JAROSŁAW SZMIDT
Cinematographer and movie director. A graduate from the Cinematography Department of National Film, Television and Theater School in Lodz and of primary Fryderyk Chopin music school in Warsaw. He has made in 2011 as cinematographer, co- screenwriter and the director full-lengh documentary film called “John Paul II – I kept looking for you”, which was seen by ca. 400.000 spectators in Polish cinemas. His professional experience is acknowledged by cinematography work in over hundreds episodes of popular Polish television series, just mentioning only “Na dobre i na złe”, “Barwy Szczęścia”, tv feature films, tv spots and commercials. He works on negative 35mm as well as in the digital technology. He is well experienced in working with digital film and television cameras in the studio and outdoors. Efficiently uses tools such as greenscreen, steadicam, DJI Ronin, phantom camera, helicam, Super Techno Crane, dollies, cranes, remote heads, carmount, classic aerial photography and drones. He collaborated with film crews in Poland and abroad, e.g in Isreal, Italy and USA. He worked in 1997 as a 2nd asistant director of “Jakob the Liar” movie (dir. Peter Kassovitz), being one of the closest co-workers of Robin Williams. Working as movie director and D.o.P. he has made several short feature films, commercials, doc. series and documentary movies screened in cinemas and broadcasted in the Polish and European Tv stations.
He has made, as the director of light, up to 10 drama plays produced on many stages in Poland and abroad.
